Meilin's Room

Meilin's room is ready! I love how it turned out. I picked this bedding out over 3 years ago when we started the adoption process. Meilin and Meigan will share a room for now, but it is the biggest bedroom in the house and we designed the closet for two when we built it. Her picture is above the bed and on the bed. Meigan clearly knows which bed is Meilin's and which one is hers. Now, if we could just get Meilin home! It's been 31 days waiting for LOA since LID......but who's counting?

We have an LID!!!!

Yeah!!! We just found out we have a Log In Date of June 30,2009! We are so excited to have that done! Now the real wait begins. Here's hoping and praying for a quick LOA!

Meilin's Foster Village

Meilin currently lives in the village of Anning. There is a great Foster Care program there, most of the children from her orphanage are there. In 2007 this video was made and sold as a Fundraiser for the Foster Care program. We were able to purchase a copy. Although Meilin is not in the video, it may be the only pictures of Anning and the daily life of the foster children there that we will get. We hope to visit the village when we are there, but do not know if we will be allowed to do so.

Care package

We finally sent a care package to Meilin. We have heard that her orphanage does not give the children their care packages until the parents are arriving. The fact that her foster care is 1 hour away from the orphanage makes this information even more true. But how do you have a child half a world away and not try to send something? We hope somehow she does get this and can become familiar with our photos and that they will take some pictures of her with the camera we sent. And yes, we will probably send another one before we travel.
For those in the adoption community...we used Ann at redthread for this package. We used her for one of Meigans packages and have loved her service.

The Girls New Beds!

We found the girls these darling beds. And, although they only came in a honey color, we were able to order them in unfinished and Brian painted them. They turned out great. The mattresses will not be arriving until next week. When we get the room together I will post.

Aren't these cute!

Meigan and Meilin are 4 months apart, Meigan being older. Our measurements of Meilin were done last november. In november, the girls were the same size. Time will tell who looks bigger and older. The cutest thing about these are that they are the same size!
