This morning started off with a trip to a park that has a lot of kids playground equipment and amusement rides. There are also alot of elderly people there spending their retirement days at the park. Our guide told us that a lot of Chinese retire around age 50 and then just spend their days at the park and at friends houses playing chess and Majong (chinese game). They have exercise equipment for them, ping pong, dance, tai chi, karaoke, and chess tables. The girls really like playing on the playground, all except for the swings. Meigan in a huge fan of swings, but Meilin did not like going by herself at all. It was ok if mom swung with here or if she was on the double swing with Meigan. Meilin really liked the slides and would do them all by herself.
Cool slanted Banyan Tree with ladies dancing below.
Exercise Equipment
Not a fan!!!!!
This swing Meilin did like.
Homemade split pants, when trying to find a bathroom just takes too long.
Meigan loved the merry-go-round, Meilin just tried to figure out what was going on.
In the afternoon we went to the US Consulate for our swearing in ceremony. No cameras are allowed inside so no actual pics of the ceremony, but it went quite quickly and painlessly. November is National Adoption Month, and since our Consulate Appointment was yesterday (11-30-09) we were the last group of adoptive families for the month. They made a big deal about this and only for us had the Consulate General come in and do the swearing in ceremony. They basically have everyone in the group (approx 20 families) stand and recite a few lines about being an American citizen and then we were done. It's kinda anti-climatic but I guess I shouldn't expect fireworks either.
For dinner we went with Jen and Jay from our Agency group and another couple we met while doing our medical exam. We ate at a restaurant that was right on the river and we got to see all of the boats going up and down the river. We had garlic eggplant, spicy beef satay, fried rice and french fries. It was a very nice relaxing dinner and the girls behaved really well.
Just Chillin!
Meilin had a great time taking a bath, she loves to splash!

Wow! We've been following your trip and can't believe it's almost over. Where did you find the carousel in Guangzhou? Our girls would just LOVE it if we could do that with them when we get there.
ReplyDeleteI don't know the name of the park but it has a famous seafood restaurant that overlooks the lake that is all white and they call it the "White House Restaurant" as it has similar architecture to the US White House.
