11-25-09 Grand View Park

This morning started off really early. Meilin woke up at 2 am and was happy and giggly and ready to play. Of course this woke up Meigan and so we were all up playing early in the morning. Once we all went back to bed and then woke up for real we went to Grand View Park. It is a park on the edge of Dianchi Lake. We walked around and watched people dancing, practicing kung fu, and feeding the seagulls. Our guide bought us some bread and we fed the seagulls too. Meigan loved throwing the bread to the seagulls, Meilin liked eating the bread. (you can tell she is used to fighting for what she wants). Brian even fed the seagulls out of his hand until one of the birds clipped a finger.

While feeding the birds we had an artist draw the girls Chinese names in colorful calligraphy. Brian climbed the pagoda to get some scenic pictures of the park and lake. Jodie was hounded by a group of Chinese tourists that were intrigued by the white woman with two Chinese kids.

Then we rented a boat and drove around the lake. Meigan wanted to drive it and even kicked Dad out of the driver's seat and drove us around in circles for a while. We had a nice time at the park and the girls managed to fall asleep just as we were walking out of the gates!
