After the Stone Forest and Golf we were quite hungry, we were trying to find a good chinese restaurant to eat at, but we couldn't locate the one we were told about. We went in to an Italian restaurant to ask for directions and Meigan saw the ice cream and wanted it so much we decided to stay and have pizza and ice cream. We had a half veggie and pepperoni pizza with some french fries for Meigan as well as chocolate ice cream. The pizza was very good, a very thin crust and tons of flavor. There were some students inside from the States that were in Kunming to learn chinese for one year at a university here. Maybe we'll have to send our kids over here to have them learn chinese, ha, ha. It was nice to talk to them and they gave us directions to the good chinese restaurants and so we'll have to try them in the next few days.
In our hotel there is a poster for the daily special, as you can see above it is for sea cucumber cooked a few different ways. As appetizing as that sounds we actually passed on that local fare and went out. Also there are two pictures above that I took on the freeway of a truck hauling about 8-10 water buffalo in the back of it. They were so big they had turned the water buffalo sideways and had their heads sticking out of the sides of the truck. It made for a very wide load and those poor water buffalo probably got wind burn traveling 50-60 mph down the freeway.
Also while we were eating we looked out over the street and we saw a young girl all done up in a puffy dress with her poodle dressed up. They were all glammed out. She reminded me of the Chinese Paris Hilton. Also we saw a beggar come walking down the street, he could barely walk and had to use a cane, in the other hand he had a cup for donations. Tied to him from behind was a younger man playing the violin to get everyones attention. It was very sad and we are seeing more and more homeless/beggars on each trip to China.
As we were walking home from dinner, right in front of us a mom stopped pulled down her daughters pants, had her squat on the sidewalk and do her business. It was so funny, I was trying to take a picture without being totally obvious. It was getting dark, and of course the flash went off. As you might guess there's no discreet way to take a picture of a kid peeing/pooping on the sidewalk, but then again there's no way that the mom and kid were being discreet so I didn't care to much.
Well tomorrow is gotcha day, We are so excited. We were told today that we are the only ones in Kunming adopting and so they are bringing all of the public officials and notaries to the civil affairs office where we get Meilin to sign all of the paperwork and what not. We are kinda worried about that and we hope that Meilin is not screaming through all of it. If she is I think I will just tell them that we need to wait till the next day and give her some time to get used to us. We'll see how it goes, hopefully having Meigan with us will help Meilin adjust to us a little quicker. Anyway we are off to bed to get some rest for our big day. Next time you'll be meeting Meilin.

When I opened your website (from RQ) I saw Meilin's picture and thought she looks SO MUCH like my daughter. THEN I saw she is in Kunming. We also adopted our daughter from there in 2006. I look forward to seeing your Gotcha photos! Have a wonderful rest of your trip.
